“Cookies make people happy.”
Sarah Gonzalez, owner and baker
Spring Hill Bakery opened its storefront in March 2018 and quickly became a town staple, drawing thousands of customers a week. After a health scare in late 2019, Sarah closed the shop, but not the bakery.
She moved to hands-on classes, a cookie delivery service and, in 2021, a cookbook. When the pandemic kept everyone home, the cookies went out by the thousand. Then, as Thanksgiving came around, she brought back the autumn favorite: cinnamon rolls.
“When I first started the bakery, I was noticing that a lot of people are not from here. If they can’t be around their family, then why don’t we create a new kind of family here?”
As told in Williamson Scene, Southern Kitchen, The Tennessean and the Times Free Press.
